Steeda Driving Experience 9 - April 21st 2023

We are very happy to report that we were finally able to get our much loved Steeda Driving Experience events back into action after all the chaos of the last few years, and it was a very successful and enjoyable event. We had a great collection of attendees, both in terms of people and cars. I personally was very happy to see such a great colour selection and happy that a couple of Focus RS owners joined in the action too.

The day brought a variety of events and also weather conditions and we were very relieved that the initial setting up was NOT conducted under torrential rainfall, but only some small showers early on in the day that allowed us to have some slippy fun. Later on the sun showed it's face and dried up the surface and allowed us to enjoy a different level of grip and control and blue skies to finish the day off in style. 

Events wise we started off with the classic "high speed bend" which was extra challenging in the damp conditions and happily got everyone spinning like tops. Ben's cracking S197 Shelby GT500 handled like it was on rails during this section.... Unfortunately the rails went straight on and not round the corner!  8)

After the high speed bend the Steeda tent saw an influx of people looking for snacks and sheltering from a little "skid pan" replenishment provided by the clouds as the two circuits were set up. After some practice and sighting laps were done we then prepared to break for lunch, which we did with the special "Car Show Killer" exercise, designed to help people learn how to leave (or more importantly how NOT to leave) a car show with style. Stay safe people!

The name of the game is simple. Exit the imaginary Steeda car show with crowd wowwing flair, peeling away from the junction in a flurry of revs, spinning wheels and epic sliding action. Just dont kill everyone, and yourself, doing it!
If the judge says your exit was too boring... eliminated!
If you slaughter the poor innocent [virtual!] car fans......well clearly, eliminated!

We fought our way down to the final 3, with Benn in ASBO MAP effectively deploying his 1000 hp, Phil in his Focus RS testing out Drift mode, and Sam in his lovely green wrapped S550 GT stacked with mods laying down nice wheel spinning exits. Sam and Phil promptly mowed down the crowds to leave Ben from Motorsport and Performance, our main UK dealer the winner by default...although his exit was stylish! No fix! Honest!

The lunch bus was then filled up for a well earned break and then back to the circuits in the afternoon as the sun began to break through, and Ben's GT500 finally began to find some grip. The big circuit was transformed into "pursuit mode" where 2 cars would start on either side of the track  and try to hunt down the other one, which was great fun, and added a little competitive pressure to the circuit too!

As ever the day provided a chance to meet many great customers face to face for the first time and we really enjoyed it, plus I even remembered how to drive too thanks to Lance letting me wheel his lovely Bullitt round to give him some pointers. I hope it helped!

These days are the perfect opportunity for new owners or "track virgins" to try out the performance in their car in as safe an area as possible, and for more experienced drivers to really start to push on and experiment without fear and in a really fun and friendly environment.
