It's not often our builds start with "I have a dream..." and no, we didn't create anything for Martin Luther King, but we did work to follow another one of his famous tenets when customer James contacted us about his dream..... "The time is always right to do what is right." So we set about helping James realise his dream.. Let's start at the beginning.
UK based James has always loved cars and racing, grew up wanting to be a race driver and had tried his hand at karting and when real racing (however small) proved too expensive and time consuming, he moved to Iracing on his computer and got a nice sim-rig to drive and race on.
His real life also revolved around real cars working at his family business selling minis and as a treat he got himself a Mach 1 Mustang, and of course he put two and two together and sought out some Mustangs on i-Racing. What he found was the V8 Supercars from Australia, and he loved the sound and fury and was inspired one night by a vision of making it a reality for him. After seeing our first ever Q767 dominate the Nürburgring in the capable hands of the "Wizard of Nur" Misha Charoudin, he knew who could help him realise his vison and got in touch.

James got in touch straight away and began to explain his plan, and we worked together to plan the transformation of his currently fully stock Mach 1. Step one was a cool number plate and some tints. because why not!
Now we all agree the Mach 1 makes a tremendous base vehicle with its improved setup and cooling and tremec 6 speed manual shifter, but we also know, as did race driver James, that its handling and performance can really be taken to another level and so we set about turning the car into a Steeda Q767 Mach 1 and then on well beyond a standard Q767 set up.
The big extra upgrades were a Steeda front K-Member for enhanced rigidity, improved setup options and of course a nice chunk of weight saving on the nose to aid steering, braking and turn in. Talking of braking a track car needs serious brake potential and James didn't want just some uprated discs and pads, he went all in for a huge GT350 full brake kit, delivering massive discs and callipers to give fade free reliable stopping power. Below:Steeda k_Member vs stock comparison
GT350 brakes offer huge stopping power and impressive race car looks, behind Velgen VF9 20" wheels
To fit the brakes in we opted for a set of Velgen VF5 wheels in 19" for track rubber with Michelin Cup 2 tyres and street wheels with 20" Velgen VF9s with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres. These wider wheels in 10" front width and 11" rear allow both the fitting of wider rubber, but also fit the huge GT350 brakes which the stock wheels cannot. They also offer lightweight performance, further adding to the weight savings made by the K-Member. The front runs 275/35/20 (the same width as the stock rears!) while the rears run 305/35/20.
Other upgrades included the track pack control arms at the front and rear, plus huge upgrades to the differential and also the interior and exterior. It's safe to say nothing went untouched!
On the exterior we added the Ford Performance secondary front splitter, and APR carbon rear adjustable wing and the CDC "Outlaw" side skirts as well as Velgen wheels and GT350 brakes.

APR Rear wing is fully adjustable for serious track work.
On the interior the overhaul continued with Corbeau custom embroidered race bucket seats and a 4 point harness installed, keeping the race vibe alive, and providing great seat placement and safety for track use. To continue the track theme and provide some additional safety a club sport style half cage was installed in the rear plus rear seat delete kit.
The diff saw additional cooling put in via a diff cooling rear finned cover and the diff was replaced with a Wavetrac diff and also a more "acceleration" focussed final drive ratio.
The tune was combined with a Steeda X pipe for more weight saving and to release a few more horsepower and a racier sound track.
Once the car was together, it needed one final step to match its race-car inspiration...
We contacted Arlon wraps who worked with us to create a livery inspired by the original V8 Super cars that had sparked the dream... from a dream to reality! And we think you will agree they knocked it out of the park, even including some new reflective film to give it a totally "popping" look under floodlights / at night....
It looked amazing at the Silverstone Festival in the Michelin Paddock and also was a perfect match with the Michelin Race Truck!
POW!
So all from a dream inspired by I-Racing to a fully realised tribute car that will REALLY perform on track. It took time and effort, but if you follow the wise words of MLK, or indeed James, and follow your dreams, then great things can happen!
And as a Post Script to this journey, it really has gone full circle as James has now arranged for the Steeda livery for the Mustang to be available in I-Racing itself, so you can download it and play it in style!
